Carter Nickens was the thirteenth and last child of John Davis Nickens and Lula Erata Ficklin. He was born 12 Apr, 1927 at Hammond, Tangipahoa Parish, La. He married Doris Gladys Adams, (date unavailable). She was born 20 Dec, 1928 at Wadesboro, Tangipahoa Parish, La. She was the daughter of Alton Eugene Adams and Cecilia Shaffer. Doris died 15 Mar, 2000 at Pumpkin Center, Tangipahoa Parish, La. She is buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery at Hammond, La. Carter died 11 Mar, 2004 at Hammond. He is also buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
