John Davis "Pomp" Nickens was the fourth child of William Nickens and Sarah Jane Kelly. He was born 20 Jun, 1870 at Galvez, Ascension Parish, La. On 19 Feb, 1900 John Davis married Lula Erata Ficklin at Galvez, La. She was born 13 Aug, 1883 at Galvez. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Ficklin and Mary Louisiana Hodgeson. According to John Davis' obituary, he was a resident of Pumkin Center, Tangipahoa Parish, La. for over 30 years before dying at the home of his daughter 27 Feb, 1951. Lula Erata died 12 May, 1965 at Galvez. Both are buried in Ficklin Cemetery, Ascension Parish, La.
