On 07 Dec, 1917 Newman married Lydia Lodelia Singletary in Ascension Parish.. She was the daughter of James Redrick Singletary and Alice Melissie Courtney. Lydia was born at Lake, Ascension Parish, La. on 31 Dec, 1898. Lydia died 24 Feb, 1968 and is buried in Carpenter's Chapel Cemetery in Prairieville, Ascension Parish, La. Newman died 09 Sep, 1984 and is also buried in Carpenter's Chapel Cemetery.
